Bruce Springsteen and U2 to play massive summer gigs at Hampden
Mar 1 2009 By Billy Sloan

THE Boss and Bono are hitting Scotland for two spectacular gigs this summer.

We can reveal Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band will headline Hampden Park in Glasgow on Tuesday, July 14.

It’s the US superstar’s first gig in Scotland with his group for 28 years.

U2 will follow him to the national stadium to play a massive show – on Tuesday, August 18 – to promote new album No Line On The Horizon.

The Boss’s date is only the fifth time he’s appeared in Scotland and follows weeks of secret negotiations.

Last month he topped the charts with brilliant album Working On A Dream and was confirmed as headline act for Glastonbury Festival in June.

His E Street Band – featuring guitarists Miami Steve Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren and saxophone star Clarence Clemons – are one of rock’s greatest live acts.

They showed why when they wowed 73,000 fans – plus millions watching on TV around the world – at Hampden – and now it’s official.

Scotland was the first rock territory – outside their native Ireland – to be conquered by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.

And they’re promising their greatest stadium show yet.

Bono said:”What we’ve planned for outdoors has never been done before.

It’s a feat of engineering genius.”

The supergroup are riding high with new single Get On Your Boots from their 12th studio album No Line On The Horizon.

It was produced by the studio dream team of Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite in Morocco, Dublin and London.

U2 wowed Barack Obama and two million fans when they played at his inauguration gig.
